Carrera Kits - old versions
Actually I am not qualified to write an article under this headline, since my knowledge of
the early Carrera buildings and accessories is very limited. So please see this as only a
short introduction to the old Carrera stuff.

All I know is, that they have at least released the above 9 items. But there may have been
more. My best guess is, that at least article no. 77601 may have been used at a time. Then I
know, that these building changed colour during the years. As far as I can figure out, the first
models started out being light green, switched to yellow later on, and ended up being white in
the middle of the nineties.

So far I have only been able to obtain two of the original Carrera kits, and both of them being
from the last, white series. I must admit, that I have not put the biggest effort into my search,
since I do not find them very attractive. To me they are a bit too "toy -ish" compared to the
other makers. On www.ebay.de they do not share the same value as the Herpa kits.
The boxes for Carrera 77602 and 77603. As shown on the boxes, Carrera did offer their build-
ings and accessories to both their Servo 140 (1/40 scale) and Profi (1/32 scale) range. Con-
cerning the scale and size, these buildings fits fine into their Scalextric and Herpa counter-
parts.
Scene from Le Mans 1964 and Carrera 77602. Both gates are to open by hands, and in the old
Carrera track system there was a piece, looking a bit like a Le Mans start, where upon this
building could be placed, letting the cars drive out on the circuit directly.

whole lot of seated figures.
I have scanned my old Carrera catalogue from 1995 to give an indication of the rest of the
sets, which I can not show on my photos. 77606 Presseturm (press tower) and 77607 Tank-
stelle (gas station) would surely look nice on display on any layout. It is also worth noticing,
that 77604 Rasthaus (resting place/crosswalk) can only span two lanes, and there is no possi-
bility to get an extended version to span a four lane track as with the Herpa and Scalextric
versions.
I had this respons on the Carrera Kits article:

Hi,
I have some additional information for your article about the old Carrera building kits:

They were first introduced in 1979, in green colours. There were 2 scales:
first: 1:32 for both Carrera 132 Universal (1:32) and Carrera 124 (1:24)
second: 1:60 for Carrera 160 and Carrera Servo 160

- in 1980, the Tribüne and Vortribüne also were made in 1/40 scale for Carrera Servo 140. But
only these tow buildings were made in true 1/40 scale, although all other buildungs also were
announced

- in 1985, all buildings disappeared because Carrera had a new owner now

- after 19185, some buildings were produced in orange color, both in 1/32 and 1/40 scale. But
these orange ones are really rare, they never appeared on any official catalogue.

- in 1988/89, the old 1/32 scale buildungs were re-introduced in red/white colors just as the
pictures on your website do show. But fron now, they were labelled "Carrera Profi / Servo
140", i.e. it looked as these kits were 1/40 scale, but in reality, it were just the same as the
old 1/32 kits they only had new colors.

hope this helps
