Prodrive Racing Ferrari 550 Maranello by Carrera/MTR32 |
In 2002, the Prodrive's lone Care Racing Ferrari 550 Maranello humbled the Chevrolet Corvettes for almost half the race before its blaze of glory disintegrated into a blaze of a more malignant nature in the small hours. The American nehemoths may have bagged a one-two victory, but the point had been made and there would be no mistake for the Prancing Horse in 2003. With fellow British outfit Veloqx also on board, Prodrive domina- ted the chase for GTS honours and rained on Chevrolet's 50th Le Mans anniversary parade. Then it was billed as a battle of Italian pace against american reliability, but 2004 was going to be a pure, all-out sprint to the finish! Alain Menu, Tomas Enge and Peter Kox (#66) have enjoyed success with Prodrive and spear- head the lead car with Darren Turner, Rickard Rydell and Colin McRae (#65) hardly second best in the other. Prodrive was originally not planning to run at Le Mans this year and was no longer on American Le Mans Series duty either, but it resoundingly drubbed the Corvettes at the end of 2003 and its credentials were impeccable. |
