Freisinger Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 RSR by
Scalextric/MTR32
Freisinger Motorsport was back again after not making the cut in 2003 despite a couple
of second places in GT in 2001 and 2002. Freisinger Motorsport had two cars this year,
but the aim for the two cars were quite different.
Romain Dumas, Stéphane Ortelli and Ralf Kelleners in the no. 85 was out for a class win while
Nikolay Fomenko, Alexei Vasiliev and Robert Nearn in no. 86 was aiming just to finish without
worrying about the classification. This was to be the first two Russian to take part of the 24
Hours Le Mans.
At practice in June the no. 85 was slowed
down due to electronic problems and therefor
it only reached a 35th place on the grid with
Dumas at the wheel doing 4m 10.011secs, but
at least it was only 4th in the GT class.
The inexperienced Russians and Nearn did 4m
18.973secs in the no. 86 came and it was only
as good as 44th place on the grid and only
12th place in the GT class.
Ironically it was the experienced Nearn with
three Le Mans who - at 21h 00 - crashed the
no. 86 in the Karting section. He went
backwards into the wall and retired on the
spot but at least the two Russians had all
ready done a stint each since they had
changed drivers each time the team went in
for fuel and tires.

The sistercar no. 85 did much better and after
six hours of racing tit was in 2nd place only 3
minutes after the White Lightning Racing in 1st
place in the GT class - and that is nothing in Le
Mans!
But during the night the problems started for
the no. 85 - at 00h30 Ortelli went off in the
Playstation chicane and through the gravel,
Kelleners suddenly stopped on the pits straight
at 03h 22 but despite these accidents, they
had been in 1st place to 1st place in the GT
class since 03h00 and reached an overall 12th
place, but a change of rear brakes and ignition
at noon was enough to lose the 1st place in
the GT class to White Lightning Racing and 2nd
place to the Japanese Choroq Racing Team.
