Cirtek Motorsport Ferrari 360 Modena by ProSlot/MTR32 |
The Modena was entered by Cirtek Motorsport which belonged to Rob Shiley and now competed under Austrian flag after the former RWS outfit purchsed a large part of the team's assets. Up to this year Cirtek had run Porsche 911 GT3 RSs but had decided to race the Ferrari in the ELMS and at Le Mans. In 2003 this Ferrari won the GT class in the LM 1000 kms ahead of all the Porsches! The line-up was Hans Hugenholz, Robert Wilson and debutant Frank Mountain and while the other teams were going for pole at practice in June, Cirtek Motorsport was meeting the requirements of the regulations but the Anglo-Dutch Ferrari was way off its April times and Cirtek Motorsport came 43rd on the grid in 4m 18,768s. |
First trouble for the Cirtek Modena was just after midnight when Mountain spun in the first chicane in Les Hunaudiéres properbly due to defective brakes. Repairs immobilised the Cirtek Modena for 20 minutes and cost it a place in the GT class. It was one minute ahead of the leading TVR and not too far off the Racers Group Porsche. 07h25 Hugenholz had problems with the right hand door which opened before the Mulsanne straight and several rear brake changes did not help the team. They even got a stop and go 3 minutes penalty for exceeding driving time. The Cirtek Motorsport Modena came 19th overall and 7th in the GT class doing 311 laps in 24 hours - 26 laps behind the class winner. |
